About Marlin Lodge

When Brendon first saw the field of long grass, he imagined a place for a boat shed. As that was being built, it rapidly took on a life of it's own, to become the place you see today. It is now a place that plays a big part in family activities, both for Brendon, Amanda and Sydnee, and their extended family and friends.

Our Wedding

In 2007 Amanda and Brendon got married at Taupo Bay, and Marlin Lodge was the centre of the festivities. With an extensive front lawn, there was plenty of room for a marquee, which housed both the pre-wedding bbq, and the post-wedding drinks and nibbles. The wedding itself was held across the road in Pohutakawa Reserve, under the 200+ year old trees, which are the centrepiece of the view from Marlin Lodge.

Survivor Taupo Bay

In 2011 Marlin Lodge played host to another big event, Survivor Taupo Bay, a combined 40th birthday party for Brendon and Amanda. With friends and family once again staying at many baches in Taupo Bay, the large front lawn once again became the venue for the many activities that the teams participated in, from throwing a spear, shooting a bow and arrow (home made), making rope out of flax, to filleting a fish, and throwing a lasso.
